At First Vets, we pride ourselves on providing high quality veterinary care for your pets. Sometimes, this involves referral to specialists.

First Vets is proud to have an association with Mark Owen, a Registered Veterinary Imaging Specialist, who provides specialist imaging services including ultrasound, echocardiography (heart evaluation), and the interpretation of radiographs (xrays).

Mark’s services are available at First Vets by prior arrangement.

For breeders, Dogs NZ (formerly the New Zealand Kennel Club) has an Accredited Breeders Scheme under which there are mandatory and optional tests for each breed, required to be completed prior to breeding. Some of these tests require specialist imaging, and we highly recommend pre-breeding testing – you can find out more information here.
